Adoquines, the blue cobblestones of Viejo San Juan.

These adoquines have endured for over 500 years. They were originally slag from Spanish iron foundries. This waste material was cut into blocks and reused as ballast in 16th century Spanish ships. The Spanish removed them from the ships and again reused them to pave the street of Viejo San Juan.IMG_0848.jpg
